The Mid-County Modelers Club is a State of Texas Incorporated Non-Profit Association of radio control model aircraft enthusiasts. A chartered club within the Academy of Model Aeronautics. The Mid-County Modelers Club has about fifty members from the surrounding area. Members range from nine years old to seventy plus years old. The club’s primary purpose is to advance the enjoyment of the sport of flying radio control model aircraft among its members and to introduce newcomers to this exciting hobby.

1. A PLACE TO FLY
The club operates its field in accordance with the AMA and a binding lease with The City Council of the Municipal League. This field is maintained by its members and is one of the best in Southeast Texas.

2. FLIGHT TRAINING
Currently we use pre-packaged diversion to teach flying. Learning to fly takes perseverance, a lot of patience and the help of an experienced flyer. The MidCounty Modelers have developed a volunteer-instructor and a licensed AMA instructor to teach the construction of planes and flight training. This program is designed to help train a novice flyer on his first airplane without a discouraging and expensive crash.

3. MONTHLY NEWS LETTER
This club publishes a monthly newsletter that reports on club and individual happenings and keeps the membership informed on upcoming events.

4. MONTHLY MEETINGS
The Mid-County Modelers meet every 2nd Monday night at 7:00pm at the Nederland City Hall.

5. PLANNED ACTIVITIES
Throughout the year the club conducts organized events with members and their families at the field. Lots of flying picnics, B-B-Q’s, meals and activities for the family is part of the fun. In recent years the club has hosted several Fun Flies and flyers from Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas have attended.

6. COST
The annual fee is $80.00 per year for nineteen years old and up. Junior membership fees are $5.00. The family unit is $80.00 per year plus $15.00 per family member.

7. HOW TO GET STARTED
It is easy to get started. Come out to the field on a weekend when the weather is nice and contact the club there. You will meet some great folks and see some good-looking aircraft in action. You may ask any pilot to check your plane to see if it is airworthy. Then he will show you how to check your gear and help assist you in flight. In either case you will have an opportunity to ask questions and get some good answers.

8. A FINAL NOTE
The exciting sport of R/C aircraft is one we are interested in sharing with others. We are anxious to meet you and tell you about it. If you would like more information fell free to contact the current club President or any other officer of the club.

9. LOCATION
The filed is located on Twin City Highway near Sun Oil. It is on the site of the old Nederland Land Fill.
